Binisita ni Vice President at Department of Education Secretary Sara Duterte ang Pikit National High School sa North Cotabato kasunod ng nangyaring pamamaril noong nakaraang linggo na ikinasawi ng isang mag-aaral doon.
Nakipagpulong sina Duterte at DepEd Undersecretary Revsee Escobedo sa principal ng eskwelahan na si Abdulkadir Buda. Ayon kay Buda bumaba ang bilang ng mga estudyanteng pumapasok sa paaralan matapos ang insidente.
Bilang interbensyon, inatasan ni Duterte ang mga opisyal ng paaralan na ipatupad ang Alternative Delivery Mode o ADM, isang remote learning instructions para sa mga batang natatakot pa ring pumasok sa paaralan.
Kinausap din ng bise-presidente ang ilang mga mag-aaral para bigyang inspirasyon na magpatuloy sa pag-aaral sa kabila ng mga hamon sa seguridad. Kasama ni Duterte sa pagbisita ang LGU-Pikit, militar at pulisya upang paigtingin ang seguridad sa bayan.
Pebrero 14, nang nasawi ang isang 13-anyos na lalaking mag-aaral matapos siyang barilin ng isang hindi pa nakikilalang lalaki sa labas ng eskwelahan. Papauwi na noong ang biktima at kasama niyang naglalakad ang apat pang estudyante na nagtamo naman ng mga sugat sa pamamaril.
