Sinibak na sa puwesto ang limang tauhan ng Office for Transportation Security (OTS) na nakuhanan ng video na nagnakaw ng pera sa wallet ng isang Thai tourist sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
Nakatalaga ang limang empleyado sa Security Screening checkpoint ng paliparan.
Base sa ulat ¥20,000 o katumbas ng P8,000 ang nakuha nila sa dayuhang turista. Ibinalik lang nila ang pera nang magbanta ang Thai tourist na ipopost nya sa social media ang kaniyang video.
Sinabi ng Department of Transportation na nagsagawa ang OTS ng agarang aksyon upang matukoy ang mga sangkot na Security Screening Officer (SSO).
Inilagay ang limang sangkot na empleyado sa preventive suspension at inihahanda na din ang mga kasong administratibo at criminal laban sa kanila.
Ayon sa OTS, hindi nila kinukunsinti ang mga tiwaling gawain na ito lalo’t nakakasira sa reputasyon at integridad hindi lamang ng OTS kundi ng buong bansa.
‘We want to get to the bottom of this because grabe po ang nasisirang reputasyon ng Pilipinas at ng NAIA,’ ayon kay MIAA assistant GM Bryan Co.
Mula noong Hulyo 2022, labing-apat (14) na mga tauhan ng OTS ang sinibak na bahagi ng kanilang internal cleansing program. Tatlo (3) ang nasuspinde, habang anim (6) na kaso ang dinidinig ng OTS Legal Service.
