Isinusulong ngayon sa Senado ang panukalang batas na libreng parking fee sa mga senior citizen at persons with disabilities (PWD) sa mga commercial establishments.
Ayon kay Senator Raffy Tulfo, may akda ng Senate Bill No. 1920 o ang Free Parking Act, layunin nito na mabigyan ng ginhawa ang shopping experience ng dalawang sektor. Kailangan lamang na magpakita ng identification card ng mga senior citizen, PWD o kasama nitong drayber bilang patunay.
“This would in some way offer the paying public in the Philippines a small break from the current wave of fuel, energy, commodity, and other price hikes that the average salary rate is unable to adequately cover,” paliwanag ng mambabatas.
Nakasaad din sa SB No. 1920 na ang free parking na pribilehiyo ay maaaring magamit ng hanggang tatlong oras sa kahit saang establisyemento tulad ng retail store, shopping malls, or kahit anong negosyong mayroong inaalok na produkto o serbisyo, maliban lamang sa overnight parking.
Kaugnay nito, nire-require ang mga establishemento na maglagay ng parking spaces malapit sa entrance para sa mga senior citizen at PWD.
Sa oras na maisabatas ang panukala, ang mga lalabag na commercial establishments ay pagmumultahin ng ₱10,000 hanggang ₱100,000 para sa unang paglabag, at ₱50,000 hanggang ₱500,000 sa pangalawang offense. Maaari ring bawiin ang business permit kapag naulit muli ang mga paglabag.
