Hinuli ng mga awtoridad si Valeriano Ricaplaza Jr., screening officer sa ilalim ng Office for Transportation Security ng NAIA Terminal 1, matapos niyang nakawin ang relo ng isang Chinese national na si Sun Yuhong.
Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ng OTS na inireklamo ni Sun na nawala ang kaniyang relo matapos dumaan sa screening machine. Mariin namang itinanggi ni Ricaplaza na nasa kanya ang nawawalang item.
Sa ginawang CCTV footage review ng mga awtoridad ng OTS, positibo nilang nakita ang pagkuha ni Ricaplaza sa relo ng turista.
Samantala, kinondena naman ng Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) ang mga insidente ng pagnanakaw sa NAIA na kinasasangkutan ng mga security screening officer.
“We condemn such unscrupulous acts, which smear the trust and integrity required of public servants. These actions have negative consequences for the airport, its stakeholders and the country as a whole,” ayon kay MIAA General Manager Cesar Chiong
