Milyones na halaga ng puslit na asukal ang nasabat ng Department of Agriculture (DA) at Bureau of Customs (BOC) sa Subic Port, Zambales noong nakaraang linggo.
Ayon sa BOC, umabot sa 58 container van na naglalaman ng 30,160 bags ng refined sugar at may kabuuang timbang na 1,508,000 kilo ang naharang ng ahensya noong Marso 2. Isinagawa ang operasyon sa pakikipagtulungan ng mga ahensya ng Bureau of Customs (BOC), Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), at ng Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI).
Umabot sa P150.8 million ang halaga ng mga kontrabando na naka-consign sa kumpanyang JB8 Consumer Goods Trading.
Sinabi ni Assistant Secretary James Layug na sasampahan nila ng kasong large scale smuggling o paglabag sa Food Safety Act of 2013 at Anti-Agricultural Smuggling Act of 2016 ang nasabing consignee.
