Ayon kay Ann Camille Mina, chief ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) Travel Control and Enforcement Unit, ang apat na biktima ay tinangkang sumakay ng Jetstar Airlines biyaheng Singapore noong March 1.
Hindi na sila umabot sa eroplano matapos silang isailalim sa interogasyon. Naaresto naman ang kanilang umano’y recruiter.
Umamin ang mga biktima na nagbayad sila ng P10,000 bawat isa bilang down payment sa recruiter.
“We received intelligence information from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) NAIA Task Force Against Trafficking about the departure of the victims that were said to be actually bound for Cambodia to work in offshore gaming operations,” ayon kay Mina.
Iniimbestigahan na ngayon ang nahuling recruiter at inilipat sa kustodiya ng IACAT.
Bunsod ng insidente, muling nagbabala si BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco sa publiko na mag-ingat sa mga illegal recruiters at mag-apply lang ng trabaho sa Department of Migrant Workers.
