Ibinasura ng Supreme Court (SC) ang kasong rape by sexual intercourse at acts of lasciviousness na isinampa ni Deniece Cornejo laban sa comedian- TV host Ferdinand “Vhong” Navarro.
Ayon sa 43-pahinang ruling ng Third Division na inilabas kahapon, Marso 13, ibinasura ang mga kaso laban kay Navarro dahil sa “lack of probable cause”.
Ang desisyon ay pirmado ni Associate Justice Henri Jean Paul Inting at pinagtibay ni Associate Justice Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa.
“WHEREFORE, the petition is GRANTED. The Decision dated July 21, 2022 and the Resolution dated September 20, 2022 of the Court of Appeals in CA-G.R. SP No. 166222 are REVERSED and SET ASIDE.”
Noong Setyembre 2022, na-isyuhan ng dalawang warrant of arrest si Navarro sa kasong rape at acts of lasciviousness na isinampa ni Deniece Cornejo.
Nakulong sa Taguig City Jail si Navarro at noong Disyembre 2022, nakalaya si Navarro matapos magpiyansa ng P1-milyon.
Ang naturang kaso ay nag-ugat sa reklamo ni Cornejo na nangyari noong 2014.
