Libo-libong sako ng pekeng harina ang kinumpiska ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) sa isinagawa nilang raid noong Lunes, Marso 13 sa isang bodega sa Maynila at Quezon City.
Sa bisa ng search warrant, sinalakay ng mga ahente ng NBI ang mga warehouse sa Sampaloc, Manila, at Novaliches, Quezon City na nagrerepack ng mga branded na harina.
Nakumpiska ang mahigit 1,100 sako ng pekeng Washington Gold Hard Wheat Flour na nakalagay sa polypropylene sack o cotton sack kabilang na ang 145 na mga sako na ni-repack at naglalaman ng counterfeit flour.
Nag-ugat ito matapos makatanggap ng reklamo ang kumpanya mula sa kanilang mga bakery customer dahil sa mababang kalidad ng harina.
Sa isinagawang imbestigasyon, natuklasan nila na mga counterfeit o peke ang nabiling harina ng kanilang mga customers. Agad namang nagsagawa ang operasyon ang mga awtoridad.
Nahaharap sa kasong Republic Act. No. 8293 or Trademark Infringement Act ang nahuling caretaker ng warehouse sa Novaliches.
