Kung noon ay inaabot ito ng limang oras, aabutin na lamang ng 40 minuto ang byahe mula Cavite papuntang Bataan at vice-versa.
Yan ay oras na matapos ang Cavite-Bataan Interlink Bridge. Ayon sa Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), sisimulan ang konstruksyon ng 32.1-kilometer bridge bago matapos ang taong 2023.
“The detailed engineering is now ongoing; it’s about 70 percent complete. We told the President it would be ready within the year to ground break the implementation of this very significant bridge,” ani Secretary Manuel Bonoan.
Ang Cavite-Bataan Interlink Bridge ay nagkakahalaga ng $3.6 billion at una nang nai-plano noong 1980’s. Pagdudugtungin nito ang Central Luzon at Southern Tagalog na dadaan sa Corregidor Island.
Inaasahan din ang pagtaas ng ekonomiya ng bansa dahil lampas 50% ng gross domestic product (GDP_ ng Pilipinas ang nanggagaling sa tatlong rehiyon na nasasakop ng tulay.
“We’ll try to have this completed before the term of the President (Marcos, Jr.) ends,” ani Banoan.
