Parusang kamatayan ang nais ipataw ng isang mambabatas sa mga kriminal na sangkot sa ilegal na droga.
Ayon kay House Dangerous Drug Panel Chair at Surigao Del Norte Representative Robert Ace Barbers, nais niyang buhayin ang death penalty sa bansa kasunod ng natanggap na impormasyon tungkol sa pag-recycle ng droga ng mga operatiba.
“Mag-recommend kami na itulak talaga ‘yung death penalty dito sa mga drug offenders na ‘to,” wika ni Barbers sa isang panayam ng GMA News.
Base sa mga impormasyon na natanggap ni Barbers, binibigyan umano ng mga miyembro ng Philippine National Police (PNP) at ahente ng Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) ang kanilang impormante ng 30 porsyento hanggang 70% ng nasabat na droga.
“A substantial amount of illegal drugs hauled, seized and confiscated by the PNP and PDEA are being recycled for the past 20 years. This fact was revealed today by an asset/informant of the two agencies who admitted being given ‘basura’—street lingo for shabu—by anti-illegal drug operatives of the two agencies every time they make a bust based on his tips,” wika ng mambabatas sa isang pagdinig ng komite nitong nakaraang linggo.
“Binibigyan ng shabu o part of the evidence for the assets to sell it to the streets. Kapag na-convert na into cash, binabalik na ito sa operatives…Doon siya magkakaroon ng porsiyento,” dagdag ng kongresista.
Patuloy ang isinasagawang pagsisiyasat ng komite sa ilegal na droga kung saan nakatakdang dumalo sa susunod na pagdinig ang mga opisyal ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), PNP at PDEA.
