Kaya pa ni Ginebra point guard LA Tenorio na malampasan ang hamon ng kaniyang Stage 3 Colon Cancer.
Ito ay ayon kay Kathryn E. Vinson isang American Clinical Practice Management expert na nagtapos ng Master of Science sa Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
Ayon kay Vinson, maituturing na madalas ang sakit na colon cancer sa mga matatanda.
“If found early, survival rates are as high as 90%; however, with regional and distant spread (Stages 3 and 4), rates drop to 71% and 14%,” ani Vinzon.
Kilala si Tenorio bilang isang masinop sa kaniyang kalusugan kung kaya’t nagawa nito na angkinin ang titulong Iron Man ng PBA.
Simula nang pumasok si Tenorio sa PBA noong 2006 ay hindi ito lumiban sa 744 straight games sa PBA hanggang sa maputol ito nitong buwan lamang.
Nitong Miyerkules ay inanunsiyo ni Tenorio na mayroong siyang Stage 3 colon cancer na naging dahilan para pansamantalang itigil muna ang paglalaro sa PBA.
“I was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer. The initial testing three weeks ago led me to instantly miss practices and games. I have completed my surgery last week and will soon undergo treatment for the next few months,” ani Tenorio.
Sa kabila nito ay humingi naman ng paumanhin si Tenorio dahil sa hindi agad nito pagbubunyag ng tunay na dahilan ng kaniyang pagkawala sa PBA.
“I would like to issue a statement about my health status by firstly apologizing to my teammates, some coaches, the PBA, the fans, the media and even some friends. As most of you are aware I have been nursing a minor injury since the Finals last January. I used that as the reason for my sudden absence. My sincerest apologies to all,” dagdag pa ni Tenorio.
