Mismong si President Bongbong Marcos na ang naghikayat kay Congressman Arnie Teves na umuwi at harapin ang lahat ng issue ukol sa kaniya.
Tahasang tiniyak din ni Marcos ang seguridad ni Teves na idinadawit ang pangalan sa pag-ambush kay Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo.
“May private jet ka naman, maglanding ka kung saan mo gusto. Sa Airforce base, mag-landing ka sa Basa (Air Base). Papaligiran natin ng sundalo walang makalapit ng isang kilometro. So, that will guarantee his security,” ani Marcos nang harapin ang media sa Fort Bonifacio.
Ibinunyag din ni Marcos na base sa kanilang intelligence report, walang banta sa buhay ni Teves.
“The best intelligence we have is we don’t know of any threat. Saan manggagaling yung threat?,”: ani Marcos.
Lumutang ang pangalan ni “Cong Teves” matapos siyang ikanta ng mga suspek na siya umano ang nag-utos sa kanila na paslanging si Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo.
Dagdag pa ng mga suspek, na wala silang alam na si Degamo pala ang target ng assassination plot.
Nanindigan naman ang kampo ni Teves na wala siyang kinalaman sa naging pamamaslang kay Gov. Degamo, gayundin sa iba pang krimeng ibinabato sa kanya.
