Ang heat stroke ay isang kondisyon na kadalasang nararanasan ng ilang indibidwal tuwing mainit ang panahon.
Ito ay dulot ng labis na pagtaas ng temperatura ng katawan na maaaring umabot sa 104 F (40 degree celsius) o higit pa.
Ang heat stroke ay nangangailangan ng paunang lunas. Kung hindi ito maaagapan, maaari itong humantong sa mga seryoso mga komplikasyon tulad ng pinsala sa utak, puso, kidney, muscle o pagkasawi.
Nito lamang Martes, Marso 21, opisyal nang idineklara ng Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) ang pagsisimula ng warm and dry season sa bansa.
Ayon sa PAGASA, inaasahang tatagal ang summer o tag-init hanggang Mayo.
“In the coming months, warmer temperatures are expected, and rainfall across the country will be influenced mostly by easterlies and localized thunderstorms,” saad nito sa isang pahayag.
Kaya naman upang makaiwas sa nakakapinsalang epekto ng mainit na panahon,pinaalalahanan din ng ahensya ang publiko na mag-ingat sa heat stress gayundin ang pagiging masinop sa paggamit ng tubig.
“The public is advised to take precautionary measures to minimize heat stress and optimize the daily use of water for personal and domestic consumption,” paalala ng state weather bureau.
