Ito ang lumabas sa UN 2023 Water Conference na ginanap kamakailan sa New York.
Ayon sa UN, sobrang paggamit at ang sobrang init ng mundo ang nagdudulot ng unti-unting pag-ubos ng tubig.
“We are draining humanity’s lifeblood through vampiric overconsumption and unsustainable use, and evaporating it through global heating,” ani UN Secretary General António Guterres.
70% ng mundo ay napapalibutan ng tubig ngunit 2.5 percent lamang ay fresh o maaaring inumin. Sa kabila nito, 1 percent lamang ang nagagamit ng tao at malaking bahagi ng mga ito ay nakaimbak sa mga glaciers at snowfields.
Lumalabas na 0.007 percent lamang ang nagagamit para sa 6.8 billion population ng mundo.
Dahil dito ay nangakong mag-invest ang United States ng $49 billion sa pagsasa-ayos ng sistema ng tubig sa kanilang bansa at sa buong mundo.
