Isang buwan bago ang sim card registration deadline ay umabot pa lamang sa 30% o 50 million subscribers ang nakapag-register.
Sa Kabayan program ni former Vice-President Noli De Castro, sinabi ng National Telecommunications Commission na matumal pa ang pagrerehistro ng mga subscribers sa ngayon.
Ngunit inaasahan din nila na dadagsa ang bilang ng mga magpaparehistro sa paglapit ng April 26 deadline na itinakda ng batas.
“Hindi po tayo nagkukulang sa information dissemination. Ang paniniwala po ng National Telecommunications Commission ay ang mga kababayan natin ay sa dulo nagpaparehistro or hesitant pa po sila na magpa-register,” ani Engr. Imelda Walcien, Director of Regulation Branch ng NTC
Dagdag pa ni Walcien, hindi malayo na magkaroon ng extension ang deadline ng sim registration.
“Yun po ay pinag-aaralan kung kailangan pa i-extend yung due date natin,” ani Walcien.
Samantala ipina-alala din ni Walcien na maaring magparehistro ang sino man ng kahit ilang sim card numbers kung sapat naman ang isang indibidwal sa registration requirement.
“Sa batas naman po, hindi ipinagba-bawal yung more than one sim. So ang kailangan lang isa-isang irehistro lahat ito,” pagtitiyak ni Walcien.
