Matapos aminin ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos na mayroon krisis sa tubig ang bansa, sinabi naman niya na may mga plano ang gobyerno na tugunan ang mga ito.
Una nang sinabi ng pangulo ang pagbuo ng Water Resource Management Office, na pangungunahan ng Office of the President at sa ilalim ng Department of the Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
Umaasa din ang pangulo na mapadali ng Kongreso ang paglikha ng Department of Water Management.
Binigyang diin din ni Marcos na kailangan samantalahin ang nakukuhang tubig mula sa mga surface water, gayundin sa mga infrastructure, tulad ng flood control at irrigation.
Pagdating naman sa agrikultura, ipinunto ng pangulo ang mga paggamit ng high breed rice at high value crops na matibay para sa dry season.
“So pinapalit-palitan natin ‘yung variety para to take advantage of the different qualities of the different varieties, especially – not only of rice but also of the high value crops dahil ‘pag dry season usually ‘yung ibang lugar na hindi nag-aalaga ng – nagtatanim ng palay ay high value crops ang kanilang tinitingnan,” wika ng Pangulo.
Hindi rin isinasantabi ang mga water management project na pwedeng gayahin ng Pilipinas sa ibang bansa.
“Hindi katanggap tanggap na ang Pilipinas kulang sa tubig dahil alam naman natin di basang basa ang pilipinas we are a tropical country so it’s just a question of managing our water, we kept postponing this problem for many many years every level, it’s time to put it together to put in a cohesive plan na masusundan ng lahat ng LGU, masusundan ng lahat ng mga agencies of government.”
