Tatlumpung isang (31) katao ang patay matapos masunog ang barko Miyerkules (March 29) sa karagatan ng Baluk-Baluk Island, Hadji Mutammad Municipality, Basilan Province.
Ayon sa ulat ng Provincial Government ng Basilan, patungong Jolo, Sulu ang MV Lady Mary Joy 3 na may sakay 195 pasahero at 35 crew members.
Sa isinagawang search and rescue operation ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), kagabi apat na indibidwal at dalawang bangkay ng babae ang kanilang narekober.
Sa pahayag naman ni Gov. Jim Hataman-Salliman ngayon hapon, 18 bangkay ang natagpuan sa loob ng nasunog na barko.
Inaalam pa ng mga awtoridad ang dahilan ng sunog.
Agad naman naghatid ng tulong ang Provincial Government sa mga apektadong pasahero na pansamantalang nanunuluyan sa evacuation center.
