Dahil patuloy na pagiging in-demand ang Pinoy nurses sa abroad, posibleng na magkaroon ng shortage ng mga nurse sa bansa.
Ito ang binigyang diin ni President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa pakikipagpulong niya sa Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) Healthcare Sector.
Malaking epekto ang kakulangan ng mga nurses sa pagbibigay ng mas epektibong healthcare sa bansa.
“We have to be clever about the healthcare manpower. Our nurses are the best, buong mundo na ang kalaban natin dito. Lahat ng nakakausap kong President, Prime Minister, ang hinihingi more nurses from the Philippines,” wika ni Marcos.
Humiling din ang Pangulo ng mga konkretong hakbang mula sa Commission on Higher Education (CHED) upang mapanatili ang mga Filipino nurses sa bansa.
Samantala sinabi ni Department of Health (DOH), officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire, pinag-aaralan na nila na magkaroon ng standard na pasahod at benepisyo para sa mga nurses, doctors at health workers sa bansa.
Tinitignan na din nila ang status ng panukalang batas na Magna Carta for Public Health Care Workers at Philippine Nursing Act, na parehong naglalayong magbigay ng mas maraming benepisyo sa mga medical professionals.
