Nanawagan sa Department of Education (DepEd) ang Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) ang pagbabawas ng araw ng school calendar sa bansa.
Mula sa mahigit 200 school days nais nila ito na gawin na lamang sa 185 days ang araw ng pasok.
Ayon kay Vladimer Quetua, Chairperson ACT, hindi aniya nababawasan ang school days kahit bago pa mag-pandemya sa kabila ng mga nagdaang bagyo at iba pang sakuna.
Umiikli rin aniya ang bakasyon ng mga guro na sa halip ay dalawang (2) buwan, nagiging isang buwan hanggang dalawang linggo na lamang ito.
Naunang sinabi ng Department of Education (DepEd) na non-negotiable and 180 days na pasok ang mga bata sa paaralan at hindi dapat bumaba dahil kung hindi ay kinakailangang magdagdag ng araw ng mga klase.
Binigyang diin din ni Quetua na wala sa mga guro ang problema kung bakit bumababa ang learning competencies ng mga bata o maging sa haba ng school days, dahil nasa sistema mismo ng kagawaran ang problema.
