Maaaring nasa Cambodia ang suspendidong mambabatas na si Negros Oriental 3rd District Representative Arnolfo Teves Jr., ayon kay Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla.
“I think he’s still in Cambodia. I think he’s still there,” wika ni Remulla kahapon, Abril 11.
Magpahanggang ngayon, hindi pa rin bumabalik ng bansa si Teves sa kabila ng kanyang pasong travel clearance.
Matatandaang pinatawan ng 60-day suspension si Teves ng House of Representatives noong nakaraang buwan dahil sa “disorderly behavior”.
Ang mambabatas din umano ang itinuturo bilang isa sa mastermind sa nangyaring pagpaslang kay Provincial Governor Roel Degamo at walong iba pa noong Marso 4.
Sa ngayon, si House Speaker Martin Romualdez ang gumaganap bilang legislative caretaker para kay Teves sa 3rd district ng Negros Oriental.
Samantala, ibinunyag din ni Remulla na nagkausap sila ng kapatid ni Teves na si former Governor Pryde Henry Teves kamakailan.
“He just repeated his public statements, the statements he had made public about his waiver (on the examination of his bank accounts and telephone records),” ani Remulla.
Ayon kay Remulla, itinanggi ni Pryde na may kinalaman siya nangyaring pamamaslang kay Degamo
“He’s in the process of trying to clear his name that he was not involved. He said he had no idea this was going to happen and that he just wants to live in peace,” ani ng kalihim.
