Upang magkaroon karagdagang proteksyon kontra COVID-19, magsisimula nang mag alok ng second booster shot ang bansa sa publiko, ayon sa Department of Health (DOH) kahapon (Abril 12).
Ayon kay DOH Officer-In-Charge Maria Rosario Vergeire, pinaplantsa na ng ahensya ang operational guidelines na inaasahang lalabas ngayong linggo.
“Batay sa updated emergency use authorization ng Food and Drug Administration at positibong rekomendasyon ng Health Technology Assessment Council, maaari na po nating magamit ang ating mga bakuna na meron tayo ngayon upang makapag-second boosters na ang general population o ang ating healthy adults,” wika ni Vergeire sa isang press briefing.
Tatlong brand lamang ng bakuna ang inaprubahan na gagamitin bilang booster. Ito ay ang Pfizer, Moderna at Astrazeneca.
Ayon kay Vergeire, mga edad 18 pataas lamang ang maaaring makatanggap ng ikalawang booster shot. Matatandaang nauna na itong ipinagkaloob noon sa mga health workers, senior citizens at immunocompromised persons.
“Hopefully within the week we can issue and we can start our implementation the soonest time possible,” ani nito.
Sa kasalukuyan, mahigit 78.4 milyon Pilipino na ang may kumpletong bakuna.
Sa numero, mahigit 23.8 milyon ang nakatanggap ng unang booster dose habang nasa 4.4 milyon naman ang nakatanggap ng ikalawang booster shot.
