Nadiskubre ng Bureau of Customs ang imbak ng diumano’y smuggled na smart television (TV) sets at computer system na may tinatayang halagang PHP20 milyon sa loob ng isang warehouse sa lalawigan ng Bulacan.
Sinabi ni BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio na isinagawa ang operasyon sa pamamagitan ng Letter of Authority (LOA) na kanyang nilagdaan, na nagsilbing basehan ng pagsalakay ng mga team mula sa BOC at Philippine National Police (PNP).
“Upon inspection, the Implementing Team discovered assorted televisions of different sizes, machines used for lamination, boxes used for packaging, and raw materials for reconditioning and repair,” saad ni Rubio.
Sinabi rin ni Rubio na pansamantalang sinigurado ng kanyang mga tauhan ang storage facility gamit ang mga BOC seal at nagpaskil ng 24/7 duty detail sa entrance at exit gate ng bodega.
Kung mapapatunayang walang wastong mga dokumento sa pag-import, ang mga nilalaman ng bodega ay maaaring isailalim sa mga paglilitis sa pag-agaw at pag-forfeit para sa paglabag sa Section 1400 (Misdeclaration in Goods Declaration) in relation to Section 1113 (Property Subject to Seizure and Forfeiture) of Republic Act No. 10863, known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
