Ayon sa RTC Branch 206, non-bailable ang kasong murder laban sa dalawa.
Noong Marso 2023, sinabi ng Department of Justice (DOJ) na nakitaan nila ng probable cause o sapat na ebidensya si Bantag sa pagpatay kay Lapid at sa hinihinalang middleman na si Jun Villamor.
Oktubre 3, 2022 binaril at napatay si Lapid habang pauwi sa kaniyang bahay sa Barangay Talon Dos, Las Piñas City.
