Matagumpay na nasungkit ng NYBL Pilipinas Red Cubs (U13 Boys) ang kampyonato kontra sa Seahawks Academy Indonesia sa ginanap na International Youth Basketball Championship noong Martes (April )11 sa Thailand.
Tila naging revenge game ito para sa Pilipinas sa Finals dahil nagkaharap na ang dalawang koponan kung saan ay tinalo ng Seahawks Academy ang Pilipinas sa elimination round.
Ayon sa isang interview na ginawa ng Bitag kay Red Cubs head coach John Delos Santos, maganda na natalo sila sa first game kontra Seahawks dahil naging wakeup call daw ito ng mga players niya.
“Ito kasi yung first game namin and since hindi namin alam kung ano ieexpect sa mga kalaban namin, it’s actually a good thing na natalo kami kasi dun na realize ng mga bata na parang hindi pa tayo ganoon kalakas and hindi tayo parang kakayanin lang natin yung mga teams dito. So it’s a good wakeup call for the team” Saad ni Delos Santos.
“Nagpatawag ako ng team meet with our players so the whole team nasa isang room kami ng hotel tapos naging resourceful lang kami, pinanood namin yung game. Yun talaga yung parang feeling ko isa din sa mabigat na reason kung bakit kami nag champion kasi doon na build yung character ng mga bata” dagdag pang sinabi ni Coach Delos Santos.
Sa huli ay nanaig ang Pilipinas Red Cubs kontra Seahawks Academy Indonsia sa score na 79-57 upang maiuwi ang kampyonato.
Tinanghal na Most Valuable Player sa finals ang kanilang point guard na si Yul Gerard Nicolas.
