Matapos ang ilang buwang paghihintay ng mga kawani, tumubo ang Rafflesia banahawensis o Rafflesia sa Mts. Banahaw-San Cristobal Protected Landscape (MBSCPL), Brgy. Kinabuhayan, Dolores, Quezon.
Namataan ang bulaklak noong March 2023 habang nagsasagawa ang MBSCPL ng pagpapatrolya sa lugar.
Ang Rafflesia ay may sukat at lapad na 30 sentimetro. Hindi tulad ng ibang species ng nasabing bulaklak, ang itsura ng Rafflesia ay kakaiba at naglalabas ng masangsang na amoy upang makaakit ng mga pollinator gaya ng langaw. Sa ngayon, mayroong dalawang populasyon ng Rafflesia flowers sa ugat ng Tetrastigma, ang host plant nito.
Ayon kay Forester na si Josephine M. Barrion, protected area superintendent ng MBSCPL na magsasagawa sila ng monitoring upang mapanatili ang kaligtasan nito.
Ang Rafflesia ay nasa listahan ng mga “endangered” o malapit nang maubos sa ilalim ng DENR Administrative Order 2017-11 at protektado rin ng Republic Act 9147 o Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act of 2001 kung saan hindi pinahihintulutan ang pangongolekta, pagmamay-ari, at pagkuha ng nasabing bulaklak.
