Nagsimula nang magsagawa ng imbestigasyon ang Philippine National Police – Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) hingil sa umano’y nangyaring data breach na naglantad sa 1,279,437 na mga sensitibong datos ng law enforcement agencies at government departments sa bansa.
“The data breach is being investigated by our ACG. We are waiting for the report of the ACG pertaining to the data breach,” wika ni PNP Chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. Huwebes, (Abril 20).
Ang nasabing massive data breach ay iniulat ng cybersecurity research firm na VPNMentor nitong Martes.
Ayon sa VPNMentor, nasa 817.54 gigabytes na datos ang nailantad mula sa PNP, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), Civil Service Commission (CSC), Bureau of Internal Revenue ( BIR) at iba pa.
Kabilang sa mga impormasyon na nailantad sa publiko ay certifications of board rating, national police clearance certificates at Bureau of Internal Revenue cards.
Bukod dito, nakompromiso din ang identification records ng mga empleyado at aplikante, scanned at photographed copies ng kanilang birth certificates, diplomas, tax filing records, passports, police identification card at education record transcripts.
Ayon kay ACG Director Brig. Gen. Sydney Hernia, sisilipin nila ang kumpletong access logs mula sa PNP Recruitment and Selection Service upang kumpirmahin ang nasabing ulat.
“We are still conducting vulnerability assessment and penetration testing. We cannot categorically say at this time that there was a leaked applicant’s data,” ani ni Hernia.
