Sa ilalim ng SIM Card Registration Act, inoobliga ang publiko na may cellphone at gumagamit ng sim cards na magparehistro upang epektibong labanan ang spam at scam messages.
Ang orihinal na deadline para sa mandatory SIM registration ay bukas, April 26, 2023.
Gayunpaman, dahil sa ulat ng mga pangunahing telcos sa bansa ang mababang pagpasok sa pagpaparehistro, umapela ang public telecommunication entities (PETs) at iba pang stakeholders na palawigin ang SIM card registration.
Pangunahing dahilan aniya ang kakulangan ng mga requirements tulad ng valid ID at digital literacy.
