Dahil sa kakulangan ng plaka, inanunsyo ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) kahapon na kaniya-kaniyang gawa muna ng temporary plate ang mga may-ari ng bagong sasakyan at motorsiklo.
Ayon kay LTO Chief Jay Art Tugade, sa buwan ng Hunyo at Hulyo inaasahan na mawawalan ng license plate ang mga bibili ng bagong sasakyan. Magbibigay naman umano ang ahensya ng awtorisasyon para sa mga bagong may ari ng sasakyan.
“Based on the forecast of LTO, license plates will run out for motorcycles by June, and by July, [those] for motor vehicles will be depleted as well,” paliwanag ni Tugade.
Dagdag pa ni Tugade, sisiguraduhin ng LTO na tutugma ang numero ng gagawing plaka sa record ng vehicle’s certificate of registration.
“So for example, motorcycle owners, in the absence of a plate number, they can create a plate number, and on the plate number, it will say the motor vehicle file number of the motorcycle,” ayon sa hepe ng LTO.
Ipinahayag rin ni Tugade na siya ring assistant secretary ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) na meron na lamang natitirang 3,000 na blangkong plaka para sa mga kotse at 735,000 naman para sa motorsiklo.Bukod pa sa paggawa ng sariling plaka ay may posibilidad din na maging printed na lamang ang lisensya na maari nilang makuha bunsod pa rin ng kakulangan sa suplay ng plastic card.
Magkakaroon naman ng unique QR code ang bawat plaka na gagawin ng isang owner upang hindi magamit ng mga masasamang loob.
Inanunsyo ng LTO ang kakulangan sa suplay ng plaka at plastic card matapos ilabas ng DOTr ang Special Order No. 2023-024 noong Enero, 25, na may kaugnayan sa procurement policy na nakaapekto sa pagbili ng ahensya.
