Walang lusot ang mga magtatangka na magbigay ng maling impormasyon at identification sa sim registration.
Sa panayam ni Dennis Principe kay Art Samaniego, Tech Editor ng Manila Bulletin, marami na ang nagtangkang magsumite ng kanilang fake ID sa pagrehistro ng kanilang sim cards at marami na din ang nasakote dahil dito.
“May ginagawa at gagamitin ang Department of Information and Communication (DICT) nakita ko ang capability ng cyber crime investigation ng coordinating center natin na kaya nila matrace ang mga bagay na ito, of course meron din makakalusot dyan pero karamihan dito, yung mga magtatangkang mag-register ng mga fake details, naku ‘wag nyo na tangkain gawin dahil mahuhuli at mahuhuli kayo,” wika ni Samaniego sa programang Strictly Issues.
Hindi man mapipigilan ng sim registration ang scam at spam ngunit natutulungan nito na mabawasan ang problema ng scamming at spamming dahil madali na silang mate-trace ng mga alagad ng batas.
Sa inilabas na Implementing Rules and Regulation (IRR) sino man mahuli na nagbigay ng false or fictitious information sa sim registration ay magmumulta ng P300,000 at anim hanggang dalawang taon pagkakakulong.
Kamakailan inanunsyo ng Department of Justice (DOJ) ang 90 araw na extension ng SIM card registration sa bansa. Sa ilalim ng SIM Card Registration Act, na nag-obliga sa publiko na may cellphone at gumagamit ng sim cards na magparehistro upang epektibong labanan ang spam at scam messages at iba pang mga krimen.
