Isang Pinoy nurse ang hinatulan ng professional misconduct ng Australian court dahil sa kapabayaan na naging dahilan ng pagkasawi ng isang pasyente.
Kinilala ang Filipina nurse na si Geraldine Lumbo Dizon na nagtatrabaho sa Nepean Private Hospital sa Kingswood, Sydney, Australia.
Ayon sa ulat, pinatay ni Dizon ang heart alarm ng isang 85-years old na pasyente sa kanyang night shift noong Hulyo 19, 2021habang ka-video call ang kanyang mga kamag-anak sa Pilipinas.
Napag-alaman ng New South Wales Civil and Administrative Appeals Tribunal nakalimutan ng nasabing nurse na isaksak muli ang alarm system pagkatapos ng kanyang shift na humantong sa paglala ng kondisyon ng pasyente na nauwi sa pagkamatay.
Napag-alaman din ng tribunal na dapat ay binigyan ni Dizon ng gamot ang pasyente, na may renal at heart failure, ngunit hindi ito nagawa dahil may ka-video call ito.
Nilabag din aniya ng nurse ang health and safety protocols ng nasabing ospital matapos mag duty ng 70 hours sa pagitan ng January and July 2021.
Hinatulan guilty sa kasong professional misconduct at unsatisfactory professional conduct ang nurse. Suspendido din ng isang taon ang kanyang nursing registration.
Taong 2006 nang marehistro bilang isang nurse sa Australia si Dizon.
