Matapos ang bulilyaso at malaking kahihiyan dahil sa power outage sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) noong Enero 1 at May 1, sa wakas nakaisip na rin ng ideya ang Department of Transportation (DOTr).
Kaya ngayon palang, pinagpapauna na ng ahensya. Shutdown daw muna ang airspace ng buong Pilipinas sa Mayo 17, Myerkules simula 12 ng hatinggabi hanggang alas-6 ng umaga.
Ibig sabihin, wala munang ba-byaheng eroplano sa nasabing mga oras na kung tawagin ng DOTr ay “lean hours” operation ng NAIA.
Ayon kay Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) Senior Assistant Genaral Manager Bryan Co, magsasagawa sila ng corrective maintenance.
Layunin nito na maayos ang Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR), palitan ang Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), at i-upgrade ang Air Traffic Management System (ATMS) A/B power supply.
