Maglulunsad ng intensibong hakbang ang Philippine National Police (PNP) at Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) upang sugpuin ang illegal gambling operations sa bansa.
Tiniyak ito ni PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. kay PCSO General Manager Mel Robles. Ayon sa hepe ng pulisya, mahigpit niyang ipapatupad ang one-strike policy sa mga police commander na mabibigong pigilan ang illegal gambling activities sa kanilang mga nasasakupan.
Dahil dito, kampante ang PCSO na mas mapaglilingkuran ng kanilang ahensya ng maayos ang publiko at makakalikom ng mas mataas na pondo sa mga susunod na buwan.
Ipinaliwanag ni Robles na napupunta sa kamay ng mga illegal gambling operators ang kita na dapat ay napapakinabangan sana ng publiko mula sa iba’t-ibang programa ng gobyerno.
“In turn, those losses deprive poor Filipino citizens of the health care and other benefits that the PCSO provides,” wika ni Robles.
“The agency is working hard to remain a socially responsible organization that provides assistance to the most vulnerable members of society,” dagdag nito.
Nanawagan naman si Robles sa publiko na tangkilikin lamang ang mga PCSO-sanctioned games tulad ng Lotto, Scratch It at Small Town Lottery at ipaalam sa mga awtoridad ang anumang mamamataang illegal gambling operations.
