Bilang paghahanda sa posibleng pananalasa ng bagyong Betty, nagbigay ng direktiba si Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos sa lahat ng mga concerned agency noong Sabado sa isasagawang malawakang relief operations sa mga maaapektuhang lugar sa bansa.
Kabilang sa mga ahensyang nagpakita ng kahandaan ang Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
Ayon kay PCSO General Manager Mel Robles, ipinag-utos na niya sa lahat ng kanilang tanggapan at mga Small Town Lottery Authorized Agency Centers (STL AACs) sa Northern Luzon na maghanda sa pamamahagi ng ayuda sa mga pamilyang maaapektuhan ng bagyo.
“We understand the importance of preparedness, and our branch offices will be in constant coordination with local organizations and government units for effective response and distribution of assistance,” ayon kay GM Robles sa paglalatag ng kanilang proactive measure.
“We have a direct presence in the provinces or towns and are in contact with parallel organizations that can assist the local government units to ensure timely distribution of relief services and necessities to the affected communities,” dagdag pa nito.
Bago pa pumasok sa Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) ang typhoon Betty, nakapaghanda na ang PCSO Main Office sa Mandaluyong City ng libo-libong food packs. Bukod pa dito ang mga sako-sakong bigas at relief goods na nakaimbak sa kanilang mga tanggapan sa Cagayan at Benguet; at STL ACCs sa Baguio, Pangasinan, Cagayan, Iloocs Norte, La Union, Kalinga at Olongapo.
Para naman sa mga nasaktan o na-ospital nating mga kababayan sa panahon ng delubyo, nagbibigay ng tulong-medikal ang PCSO sa pamamagitan ng kanilang Medical Assistance Program (MAP).
Maliban dito, nagkakaloob rin ng calamity fund ang ahensya sa mga naapektuhang komunidad para makabangon at makapagsimulang muli dulot ng pananalasa ng matinding kalamidad.
