Ayon kay DENR Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo Loyzaga, malalim ang pinag-uugatan ang issue ng plastic waste
“So there’s a very huge social dimension that needs to be addressed. If we cannot replace single-use plastics we will not be able to actually address this problem,” ani Loyzaga.
Base sa 2021 report ng World Bank Organization, nanggagaling sa Pilipinas ang 2.7 million tons ng plastic waste kung saan 20% sa mga ito ay nauuwi sa karagatan, karamihan ay mga single-use sachets.“The challenge is on academe. Of course government, we need to do our own research as well. But certainly the producers, those that are using plastic products, they need to be responsible for finding a sustainable replacement,” dagdag pa ni Loyzaga.
