Ito ang nais ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. sa planong ipatupad ang isang batas ukol dito.
Sa Republic Act 6716 o Rainwater Collector and Spring Development, layunin nito na ipunin ang tubig ulan at mabawasan ang kaso ng pagbaha sa Metro Manila at ilan pang mga lugar sa bansa.
Ayon kay Press Secretary Cheloy Garafil, may lampas 6,000 rainwater collection system ang nakatakdang itayo sa iba’t ibang panig ng bansa.
“The highlights included the rainwater collection system program under Republic Act No. 6716, with a total cost of PHP5.86 billion for the construction and installation of 6,002 rainwater collection system in various parts of the country,” ani Garafil.
Sa isang pag-aaral, lumalabas na aabot sa walong milyon ang bilang nga mga tao na maapektuhan ng tubig baha sa taong 2050 dahil na din sa climate change.
