Pangungunahan ni San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora ang hakbang para ipunin at pakinabangan ang tubig ulan sa Metro Manila.
Ayon kay Zamora panahon na para magkaroon ang lahat ng siyudad sa Metro Manila ng rainwater catchment para kolektahin ang tubig ulan.
“Pwede po itong gawin sa ating mga lungsod, halimbawa sa amin sa city hall pwede kami magawa ng rain catchment area ganun din sa barangay halls schools at kani-kanyang mga tahanan,” ani Zamora na presidente ng Metro Manila Council.
Ganito din ang plano ni Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano para sa kanilang siyudad.
‘Yung aming gagawin doon na mga parks and other developments magkakaroon kami ng rain catchment doon sa ilalim ng mga gagawin naming programa,” said Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano.
Kamakailan ay inihayag ng Malacanang ang planong P5.86-billion project para sa pagpapatupad ng Republic Act 6716 o ang Rainwater Collection and Springs Development Law of 1989.Nais ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. na magkaroon ng water impounding facilities sa labas ng Metro Manila upang magkaroon ng mas epektibong water resources management at pagprotekta sa mga coastal communities.
