Hindi pa sumusuko si Department of Health Secretary Dr. Teodoro Herbosa sa kaniyang kagustuhan na kumuha ng mga non-board passers para magtrabaho bilang nurse sa mga government hospitals.
Sa isang statement sinabi ni Herbosa na handang tumulong ang Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) at Board of Nursing sa DOH para makakuha ng solusyon sa shortage ng mga nurses sa Pilipinas.
“There are still many options despite legal limitations which I understand,” ani Herbosa. “However, it’s good to know they are with me to find the solutions to the 4,500 unfilled nurse items in DOH hospitals.”
Una nang sinabi ni Herbosa na hihilingin niya ang pagbibigay ng temporary licenses sa mga nurses na hindi nakapasa ng board ngunit nakakuha ng score na 71% hanggang 74%.
Ito ay para mabawasan ang kakulangan ng mga nurses sa mga government hospitals.Sinang-ayunan naman ito ni Philippine College of Physicians president Dr. Rontgene Solante na nagsabing ang mga nursing graduates, kahit na hindi ito nakapasa ng board exams, ay may sapat nang kakayahan na makapag-practice ng nursing profession.
