Wala pang indikasyon na maibababa ang alert level ng Mayon Volcano.
Ayon kay Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) Director Dr. Teresito Bacolcol, patuloy pa din ang pagsabog ng Mayon kahit na may kahinaan pa ito na maituturing.
“Wala pa pong indikasyon na we have to lower the alert level kasi as of the moment, technically, nag-e-erupt pa rin yung volcano. It’s just that it is an effusive eruption,” ani Bacolcol sa isang radio interview.
Sa kanilang 5am report, nakapatala ang Phivolcs ng 339 rockfall events sa paligid ng Mayon sa huling 24 oras. Ito ay mas mataas sa 299 rockfall events na naitala noong nakaraang araw.
Samantala pinapayuhan pa din ni Bacolcol na manatili muna sa mga evacuation centers ang mga pamilyang naapektuhan ng pag-alboroto ng Mayon. “Yung mga nasa evacuation centers, tiis-tiis lang… ‘Wag muna tayong bumalik inside the permanent danger zone, para po ito sa ating kaligtasan,” ani Bacolcol.
