Determinado si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. gawin bilang isang “tourism powerhouse” ng Asya ang Pilipinas sa susunod na mga taon.
Inihayag ni Marcos sa ika-50 anibersaryo ng Department of Tourism (DOT) ang kanyang pangakong itaguyod ang sektor ng turismo. Dagdag nya, umaasa sya na makatutulong ang bagong slogan na “Love the Philippines” upang palakasin ang mga aktibidad sa ekonomiya at mapataas ang oportunidad ng trabaho sa bansa.
Noong Mayo ay inaprubahan ni PBBM ang National Tourism Development Plan (NTDP) 2023-2028 na magsisilbing blueprint at development framework ng administrasyon para sa industriya ng turismo. Nakasaad din dito ang mga target ng gobyerno, na kinabibilangan ng pagsulong ng mga lokal na produkto at pagpapatupad ng mas maraming proyektong pang-imprastraktura upang matiyak ang maginhawang paglalakbay.
Pinuri rin ng pangulo ang DOT at industriya ng turismo na naging isang pangunahing puwersa ng paglago ng ekonomiya.
Hinikayat ni PBBM ang mga Pilipino na maging tagapagtaguyod ng turismo ng bansa upang maisakatuparan ang layunin ng pamahalaan.“I enjoin you all to be our country’s promoters, advocates, and if I may borrow a coined term in this age of social media, be our country’s top influencers,” ani Marcos.
