Pinaghahanda ngayon ang mga residente ng Bicol na nasa 7-8 kilometer radius ng Mayon Volcano na mag-evacuate ano mang oras mula ngayon.
Ayon kay Mayon Volcano Observatory resident volcanologist Dr. Paul Alanis, kanilang na-monitor ang mga pyroclastic density current (PDC) na nakaharap sa south at southeast quadrant ng bulkan.
Kabilang sa mga sakop ng nasabing quadrant ay ang Legazpi City at Daraga, at Santo Domingo sa Albay.
“Nagbigay lang po kami ng advise, notice na may ano ngano dumadami ‘yung earthquake tsaka nagkaroon ng mga PDC na umabot ng four kilometers ang haba so binigyan lang namin ng notice yung mga nasa seven and eight dun sa South East na mag-ready na mag-evacuate,” ani Alanis.
Bumababa man ang activity ng Mayon Volcano ay nandoon pa din ang posibilidad na magkaroon ito ng mapaminsalang pagsabog.
Sa report ng Phivolcs ngayon Lunes (July 3), bumuga ang Mayon ng 962 toneladang sulfur dioxide sa loob ng 24 oras. Mas mataas ito kumpara sa 864 tonelada noong araw ng Linggo.“Alert Level 3 is maintained over Mayon Volcano, which means that it is currently in a relatively high level of unrest as magma is at the crater and hazardous eruption within weeks or even days is possible,” laman ng report ng Phivolcs.
