Posibleng tanggalin na ng gobyerno ang COVID-19 public health emergency sa bansa.
Ito ang inanunsiyo ni Health Secretary Dr. Teodoro Herbosa sa isang press conference sa Malacanang.
Sinabi ni Herbosa na isang formal order na lamang mula kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. ang kailangan para maipatupad na ito.
“Ang sabi niya (Marcos) kasi, de facto, parang nakalift na rin tayo diba? Optional na ang masking ‘di ba? Hindi na inextend ‘yung ano…” ani Herbosa. “Wala pang formal, we’re still waiting for the [order], eh de facto naman tayo, ang dami na, nagpunta ko sa mall ang dami na di nagmamask eh.”
Ilan sa mga probisyon ng public health emergency ay ang mandatory reporting at maigting na response at measures ng gobyerno kabilang na ang quarantine at disease control measures.
Idineklara noon ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang Proclamation 922 sa kasagsagan ng COVID pandemic noong 2020.
Samantala mananatili naman ang alert level system sa bansa. “The alert level system will stay because that’s a system like the typhoon signal that stays. But actually hindi na siya public health emergency. Wala nang public health emergency,” dagdag ni Herbosa.
