Umabot sa 50 pamilya ang inilikas buhat sa loob ng 6-kilometer permanent danger zone ng Mayon volcano.
Ayon kay Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) spokesman Rommel Lopez, sinimulan ng kanilang Bicol Regional Office ang forced evacuation matapos magkaroon ng verified reports na ilang mga pamilya ang ayaw umalis sa Barangay Anoling, isa sa mga itinuturing na geographically isolated areas sa bayan ng Camalig sa Albay.
Ang agarang evacuation ay isinagawa ng Camalig Municipal Station, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office at ang Municipal Disaster Response and Management Office.
“The 50 families from Barangay Anoling will be given temporary shelter at the Baligang Elementary School. Validation is still ongoing to account for the exact number of families,” ani DSWD regional director Norman Laurio sa kaniyang report sa Disaster Response and Management Group ng DSWD.
Noong isang buwan lamang ay mahigit 13,000 na mga residente sa paligid ng 6-kilometer permanent danger zone ay inilikas matapos magsimulang bumuga ng lava at sulfuric gas ang Mayon.Araw naman ng Linggo (July 9), iniulat ng Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology ang 26 volcanic earthquakes at 303 rockfall events sa loob ng 24 oras.
