Isusulong ni Senator Grace Poe ang pagbuo ng Department of Water Resources bilang tugon sa aniya’s magkakaibang aksyon ng mga ahensiya na sana’y nag-aasikaso sa issue ng tubig.
Naniniwala si Poe na ang pagkakaroon ng DWR ay makatutulong para bawasan ang mga ahensiya at pag-isahin na lamang ito pagdating sa pangangalaga ng tubig sa Pilipinas.
“Kailangan pag-isahin yan. Kasi di ba meron pang mga provincial water regulatory boards, yung MWSS, parang, pasensya na, pero parang inutil, hindi ba pagdating sa pag-a-administer lamang pagdating sa paga-ano ng tubig,” ani Poe sa isang press conference.
Dagdag pa ni Poe, makatutulong ang pagkakaroon ng isang ahensiya ng tubig pagdating sa pagtitipid ng pondo ng gobyerno.
“If you devolve certain functions of those certain agencies into one, administrative fees, lahat. yan, hopefully mababawasan… Hindi totally obsolete, ang nakikita lang namin maraming clashing functions,” ani Poe.Tiniyak din ni Poe na isusulong niya ang isang Senate investigation at malaman ang performance ng mga distribution companies at iba pang issue na may kinalaman sa water management sa Pilipinas.
