Muling tumaas ang bilang ng volcanic earthquakes sa Mayon Volcano sa nakaraang 24 oras.
Ayon sa Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) umabot ng 184 earthquakes sa nasabing area, mas mataas kumpara sa huling apat na araw kung saan mas mababa sa 100 ang bilang ng mga lindol.
Base sa previous bulletins ng PHIVOLCS, nagtala ang Mayon Volcano ng 90 volcanic quakes noong July 20, bumaba pa sa 81 sumunod na araw at 22 noong Sabado. Pagdating ng Linggo, 5 volcanic earthquakes lamang ang naitala.
Sa kabila nito ay hindi pa matiyak kung magkakaroon ban g moderate-sized explosions ang Mayon Volcano sa mga susunod na araw.
“Bumaba ‘yung lindol from July 22 to 23, pero tumaas na naman between kahapon and kanina. Umabot na ito ng 184 volcanic earthquakes from five volcanic earthquakes. Mahirap nating sabihin kasi kapag susumahin natin ‘yung total seismic energy release, masyadong mababa pa rin po,” ayon kay PHIVOLCS director Teresito Bacolcol.
Nasa Alert Level 3 pa din ang Mayon Volcano dahil sa patuloy na magalboroto nito. “Forceful and voluminous steam/ash ejections. Sustained increases in SO2 emission rates, ground deformation/swelling of the edifice. Activity at the summit may involve dome growth and/or lava flow, resultant rockfall,” dagdag pa ng bulletin ng PHIVOLCS.
