Humigit kumulang 30,000 food at non-food packs na nagkakahalagang P17 milyon ang ipinamahagi ng Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) sa mga nasalanta ng bagyong Egay sa Northern Luzon.
Kabilang sa mga nabigyan ng ayuda ang mga probinsya ng Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, Abra at Baguio City na matinding binayo ng kalamidad.
Sa lalawigan ng Abra na inilagay sa state of calamity, may kabuuang 1,969 food packs at 2,000 non-food packs na nagkakahalaga ng P2.5 million ang ibinigay ng ahensya.
“I salute the leadership of PAGCOR for doing such a good will. Wala naman po exposure ang PAGCOR dito. The gaming industry here in our locality doesn’t exist, pero andyan yung PAGCOR para tulungan kami para ipakita na tumutulong sila. And we are very thankful for that,” ayon kay La Paz, Abra Mayor Joseph Sto. Niño Bernos.
Samantala, 2,000 food at 2,500 non-food packs naman ang ayudang naibigay sa Baguio City; 5,000 food and non-food packs sa lokal na pamahalaan ng Vigan, Ilocos Sur noong Hulyo 28; at 5,000 food packs naman ang naibigay ng PAGCOR sa probinsya ng Bulacan na nagkakahalaga ng P2 milyon.
Personal naman na nagpasalamat si Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew J. Marcos Manotoc sa PAGCOR sa agarang tulong at pagresponde sa kanilang lalawigan habang kasagsagan ng malakas na ulan at hangin.
Sa tala ng National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), tinatayang umabot na sa P5.5 bilyong piso ang napinsala sa sektor ng agrikultura at mga imprastruktura habang 2.4 milyong Pilipino naman sa buong bansa ang naapektuhan ng Super Typhoon Egay.
