PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco delivers his welcome remarks during the ceremonial signing of the memorandum of agreements (MOA) for the nationwide school building program on September 24, 2026, at the PAGCOR Corporate Office in Pasay City.
The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) and the Department of Education (DepEd) on Thursday, September 24, held a ceremonial memorandum of agreement (MOA) signing with 66 local government units (LGUs) for the state gaming agency’s nationwide school-building program.
PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco, Education Secretary Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara, and representatives of the 66 LGUs took part in the ceremony held at the PAGCOR Corporate Office in Pasay City.
Mr. Tengco said the program is intended to give Filipino students better learning environments and greater access to facilities that can support their education.
“Through these classrooms, we hope to give the younger generation a better learning environment, a chance to discover what they are truly capable of, and a chance to build a brighter future,” Mr. Tengco said.
The PAGCOR chief said each three-story school building will have 12 classrooms equipped with chairs, tables, electric fans and PWD-friendly facilities. The classrooms will also have 75-inch smart TVs with amplifiers, microphones and a one-year free internet subscription.
PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco and Education Secretary Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara lead the ceremonial signing of the MOA for the nationwide school building program.
“We want these school buildings to provide students and teachers with the facilities they need for a better learning experience, including comfortable classrooms, basic amenities and technology that can support teaching and learning,” he said.
Mr. Tengco expressed hope that the school buildings could be completed by 2027 or 2028, particularly in communities where the need for additional classrooms is most pressing.
He also stressed the importance of close coordination among PAGCOR, DepEd and the beneficiary LGUs in ensuring that the program is carried out properly and that the facilities deliver lasting benefits to students and communities.
For his part, Secretary Angara welcomed the partnership and thanked PAGCOR for its continued support for the education sector.
“Nagpapasalamat talaga kami para dito because these are not ordinary classrooms; these are well-designed, well-thought-out projects by PAGCOR,” Secretary Angara said.
In March this year, PAGCOR earmarked an initial Php1.37 billion for the construction of 25 public school buildings nationwide as part of the program.
The school building program is part of PAGCOR’s broader efforts to support public infrastructure and improve access to essential services, particularly in underserved communities.
