The Philippine National Police (PNP) has recorded a surge in petty crimes and robbery incidents during the holidays and long weekends.
This is why the PNP and other law enforcement agencies have repeatedly reminded the public to set up extra precautions when planning a weeklong vacation this coming extended long weekend for the observance of All Soul’s Day.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos has issued Proclamation No. 79, declaring Oct. 31, 2022, as a special non-working holiday in the country.
The long weekend starts on October 29 (Saturday), and until Wednesday, November 2.
Office of the Press Secretary officer-in-charge Cheloy Garafil said Proclamation No. 79 was issued to allow Filipinos to spend more time with their families, as well as to promote local tourism.
“The President has already signed the proclamation, declaring October 31 as a special non-working holiday,” said Garafil.
