Isang opisyal ng Philippine Army (PA) ang nasawi matapos aksidenteng mabaril ang sarili noong Nobyembre 13, sa Camp Capinpin, Brgy. Sampaloc, Tanay Rizal.
Naisugod pa sa ospital ang biktima na si Major Reynaldo Cañete ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), pero binawian din ng buhay. Sa salaysay ng testigong si Army Major Dave Anthony Papael, ala-1:00 ng hapon noong Lingo nang naabutan niyang naliligo sa sariling dugo ang biktima sa kanyang kuwarto sa Old Central Barracks Building ng Camp Capinpin.
Batay sa paunang imbestigasyon ni PSsgt. Jason Magbanua, isang Glock 17 pistol na may serial no. AFP 029823 ang nakuha sa tabi ng biktima. Sapul sa ulo ang biktima kaya hindi rin ito tumagal nang isugod sa
Army Station Hospital sa Camp Capinpin. Hinala ng mga otoridad, maaaring aksidenteng nakalabit ng biktima ang nililinis na baril at tumama ito sa kanyang ulo.
Gayunpaman nagsasagawa ng mas malalim na imbestigasyon kung may foul play sa insidente.
