Hanggang animnapu’t dalawang taong pagkakakulong ang hatol ng Sandiganbayan laban sa dating actor-politician na si Roderick Paulate dahil sa kasong graft at nine counts ng falsification of public documents.
Ayon sa ulat ng philstar.com, nag-ugat ang kaso ni Paulate sa umano’y pagkuha nito ng mga ‘ghost employees’ noong siya ay konsehal pa ng Quezon City, taong 2010.
Sinampahan ng graft case si Paulate sa Office of the Ombudsman noong 2018 dahil sa falsification ng Job Order at Contract of Service ng mga empleyado.
Pineke rin umano nito ang lagda ng mga contractor para obligahin ang city government na maglabas ng pampa-sweldo sa mga empleyado.
“Paulate’s total sentence amounted to between 10 and a half years to 62 years of imprisonment — broken down, the graft offense was six to eight years while each falsification offense accounts for six months to six years,” ayon sa pahayagan.
Maliban sa pagkakakulong, pinagbabayad din si Paulate ng tig-P10,000 sa kada count ng falsification case.
Bawal na ring pumasok sa anumang public office ang dating konsehal, alinsunod sa desisyon ng Sandiganbayan.
Kasamang nahatulan ang dating driver at liaison officer ni Paulate na si Vicente Bajamunde, bagama’t absuwelto ito sa kasong falsification of public documents.
Ipinasasauli din kay Paulate sa Quezon City Treasurer ang umano’y pinasweldo nito sa mga pekeng empleyado.
