Hindi na gagawing chairperson ng Maharlika Wealth Fund (MWF) si Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., upang matanggal ang agam-agam ng mga kritiko na gagamitin lamang ang pondo nito para isulong ang interes ng pangulo.
Sa pagdinig kahapon ng House Committee on Appropriations, iminungkahi ni House Committee on Banks and Financial Intermediaries chairperson at Manila Rep. Irwin Tieng na dapat ang kalihim ng Department of Finance (DoF) ang tumayong chairperson ng konseho ng MWF.
Sinabi rin ni Tieng na dapat ay apat na independent directors sa halip na dalawa lamang ang magiging kasapi sa 15-man na MWF board of directors.
Suportado naman ni Appropriations committee vice chairperson at Marikina Rep. Stella Luz Quimbo ang mungkahi na baguhin ang komposisyon ng MWF Council upang mas madali itong maintindihan.
Ayon kay Quimbo, ang 15-member ng board ay bubuuin ng Finance secretary bilang chairperson, chief executive officer ng MWFC, executives ng Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) at Development Bank of the Philippines, pitong regular member mula sa mga fund contributors, at apat na independent directors mula sa pribadong sektor.
